Even though it is called a brook trout, Salvelinus fontinalus is not a trout at all, but is one of the most "trout-like" members of the char family. Characteristics of the brook trout include light spots on a dark skin, where its deeply embedded scales give the skin a smooth, slippery feel. The spawning male in this drawing exhibits the familiar vermillion red-orange lower fins with milk-white leading edges.

These Giclée prints of Paul's original art are of the highest color quality and resolution available. The ink used for these prints is pigment-based, and is printed on acid-free, archival paper, resulting in a print that will last over 100 years without fading.

The word "Giclée" is derived from the French word meaning "that which is sprayed or squirted". The nozzles on the inkjet printer that "squirt" ink onto the paper create a resolution of no less than 300 dots-per-inch. The diameter of these nozzles has an opening one-fifth the diameter of an average human hair. Aside from paper texture, because of their color accuracy and detail, most people cannot tell a Giclée print from the original.

The print sizes offered easily pair with open frame sizes commonly found in stores. Prints are wrapped in pH neutral glassine paper and shipped in 3" crush-proof tubes.
